End of program review and reflection

Colleen Strain, PhD is a Scientific Manager for Global Scientific Leadership and Education at Abbott.  She is also on the scientific lead for the UNIVANTS of Healthcare Excellence program and lead for the Executive Leadership Exchange program. As a champion for laboratory medicine, Colleen is passionate about driving healthcare excellence through scientific collaborations and partnerships, while maximizing value within healthcare.

Colleen’s professional and education focus on the strategic value of laboratory medicine within healthcare. Colleen is a corporate representative on the International Federations of Clinical Chemistry (IFCC)– Task Force on Outcome Studies in Laboratory Medicine and actively supports the IFCC Task Force for Corporate Members.

Alex joined Abbott in 2018 as a Sr. Director for Medical, Clinical and Scientific Affairs, within Transfusion Medicine. Alex assumed his current role as DVP Medical, Clinical and Scientific Affairs within HAIC, Core Diagnostics in Lake County in 2021.

Prior to joining Abbott, he was the President and Medical Director of Versiti Blood Center, Illinois.

Alex attended University of Michigan for his undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology and History of Art, and Tulane University for his PhD in Infectious Diseases and Immunology, as well as for his Medical Degree.

His Residency training was in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Harvard Medical School/ Beth Israel Deaconess, with Fellowships in Transfusion Medical and Hematopathology at Harvard Medical School/ Brigham and Women’s Hospital / Mass General Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital.
